Prime Adviser Dr. Yunus and UN Secretary-General Guterres Visit Rohingya Camps in Cox’s Bazar

Bangladesh’s Prime Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres visited the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. Their aircraft landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at 1 PM on Friday (March 14).

From the airport, they headed directly to Ukhiya. Earlier in the day, at 10 AM, Dr. Yunus and Guterres held a meeting at the Prime Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. After the meeting, they departed for Cox’s Bazar on the same flight.

Upon arrival, Prime Adviser Dr. Yunus visited the under-construction Cox’s Bazar International Airport and the Khurushkul Climate Refugee Center. Later, he joined the UN Secretary-General at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya. There, they participated in an Iftar with hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees.

The UN Secretary-General directly visited the Rohingya Learning Center, the Rohingya Cultural Center, and the Jute Products Manufacturing Center in Ukhiya. After completing their visits, both are scheduled to return to Dhaka together.
