Four people, including a husband and wife, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district. Five others were injured in the incident. Among the deceased, Jamal Hasan (40) and his wife Ayesha Begum (38) from Kadma village of Nabiganj upazila, Habiganj, have been identified. Police are working to identify the others.
The accident occurred late Thursday night around 2:00 AM in the Bakhrankhar area of the upazila.
Shaistaganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ATM Mahmudul Haque said, “A head-on collision occurred between a Dhaka-bound truck and a pickup van coming from the opposite direction at night in Bakhrankhar. Four passengers of the pickup van died on the spot. The four bodies have been sent to the morgue of Habiganj District Sadar Hospital, and the vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to Shaistaganj Highway Police Station. The victims were passengers of the pickup van. The identities of the deceased couple have been confirmed, and police are trying to identify the others.”
