2,080 Hajj pilgrims to go directly to Saudi Arabia from Sylhet

District Representative Sylhet: Bangladesh Biman will operate five Hajj flights from Sylhet this year. The official inauguration of the Hajj flights will be held on May 14.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Sylhet District Manager Shah Newaz confirmed the matter and said that five Hajj flights will be operated from Sylhet this year. 2,080 Hajj pilgrims will go on these flights. The first Hajj flight with 418 passengers will leave for Madinah at 5:25 pm on May 14. Then, four more Biman flights will leave for Jeddah directly from Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport on May 23, 25, 26 and 29.

Sources said that this time too, immigration of passengers from both countries will take place in Dhaka under the Road to Mecca program. However, immigration of passengers traveling through Osmani International Airport will be held in Saudi Arabia.

The concerned said that keeping in mind the issue of alleviating the suffering of pilgrims in the Sylhet region, a decision has been taken to operate five Hajj flights from Sylhet Osmani International Airport this time.

Mohammad Ziaur Rahman Khan Rezwan, Chairman of the Sylhet Zone of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), said that apart from business purposes, every travel agency expects to send pilgrims for the holy pilgrimage. However, this year the Saudi government has limited the number of pilgrims per agency to 1,000. This has put businessmen in a dilemma. Due to this, they have to work extremely hard to make accommodation facilities and other activities in Mecca and Medina successful.

He said that 15 to 20 people can be included against a license in Dhaka. He requested the Chief Advisor to draw his attention to this problem and talk to the Saudi government. So that the number of pilgrims per license can be reduced to a quota of 250 to 500 people.

President of the Hajj Agency of Bangladesh (HAB) Sylhet Chapter, Zahirul Kabir Chowdhury Shiru, said that the suffering of the pilgrims will be alleviated to a great extent as five Hajj flights will be operated from Sylhet. He drew the attention of the Biman authorities to operate direct flights from Madinah to Sylhet.

The concerned said that 33 people have officially registered as Hajj pilgrims from Sylhet. Agencies that have worked as coordinating agencies in Sylhet for the collection of Hajj pilgrims include Iqra Travels and Tours, Sipar Air Service, Al Mansur Air Service, Rabbani Aviation Services, Ababil Air Service, Travelon Air Services, Al Sharifine Travels, Nibras Travels, Tashfiq Travels, City Overseas, Soma International Services, Jatrik Travels, Aqaba Trading Corporation, Alfa Travels, Khaja Travels, Sunshine Travels, Aqaba Travels, Ishra Travels, etc.
