15 Injured in Clash Between Two Groups in Habiganj

A. F. M. Asad Ullah Asad: A clash between two groups over a longstanding dispute has left at least 15 people injured in Habiganj Sadar Upazila. Among the injured, two are in critical condition after being pierced with spears. They have been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred on Saturday around 9 AM in Gobindapur village under Teghoria Union of the upazila.

According to locals, there had been a prolonged feud between Salam Mia and Sujan Mia of the same village over dominance and other issues. On Saturday morning, around 9 AM, both groups engaged in a violent clash using traditional weapons. At least 15 people from both sides were injured. Among them, Sujan Mia (35) and Ful Mia (70), who were critically injured, were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, while the others are receiving treatment at Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station, AKM Shahabuddin Shaheen, said, “The clash occurred due to the ongoing dispute between the two groups. Upon receiving information, police visited the scene. The situation in the area is now under control.”
